Volunteering

At Sandown Court, we rely on the strength and goodwill of our residents to help keep the community running smoothly. Whether you’re lending a hand in the gardens or stepping up as an on-call caretaker, your time and effort make a real difference. Volunteering is a rewarding way to get involved, meet neighbours, and help maintain the high standards we all value. If you’re able to give a little time, we’d love to have you on board.

Gardening

We’re always looking for green-fingered volunteers to help keep our gardens and grounds looking their best. Tasks include planting, weeding, hedge trimming, grass cutting, and litter picking. Your time and effort make a big difference.

Caretaking (When In-House Security is Unavailable)

Residents Association volunteers provide an on-call caretaker service during out-of-hours periods to support our community and help reduce management costs. The service runs:

  • Monday–Friday: 10:00pm – 7:30am
  • Weekends: 24-hour cover (10:00pm – 7:30am paid volunteer, 7:30am – 10:00pm unpaid volunteer)

Caretaking duties include:

  • Answering emergency calls on the security telephone
  • Responding to elevator breakdowns
  • Addressing water leaks
  • Checking bins and rubbish chutes

Note: Caretakers do not have access to apartments.

This service was successfully trialled during March and April of this year. The Sandown Court Management Company (SCMC) provides a discretionary payment for overnight duties, and also makes a monthly donation to the Residents Association in recognition of this support.
